they are rockers. they rock out.

I’ve never gotten to make anyone a band flyer and I’m kind of sad about it.

Of course, like an idiot, I had to come up with an idea that entailed me having to make up a band name to – it gets worse, believe me – match the picture. Foolish! Luckily it only took me a couple hours. See how I say luckily? That is how foolish I was.

By the way, I googled it, and if they’re any guide, nobody’s actually called their band “Crackbomb.” Nobody on the internet anyway. Probably some hardcore band in St. Louis circa 1985. So! If you wanna start a band, call it “Crackbomb” and I’ll let you use this picture. Lucky you! You’ll have to rig some way to play a gig at a place called “The Plant” at 9 though. That I can’t be responsible for.

I really dig your style. Is it something you do purely digitally? I love the effect of the graphic novel style plus lino/wood cut prints. Sweet!

I’m too old to use words like wicked and “da bomb”…so, how about I just say “it rocks!” FANTASTIC job!

You have no idea how much this cracks me up. Having spent my teen years going to places like “The Plant” (e.g., The Brewery, The Turning Point, Cat’s Cradle) and hearing bands like “Crackbomb” (e.g., Throwing Muses, Flat Duo Jets, The Pressure Boys), this illustration sent me into an ’80s flashback in all the right ways. Rock on with yo’ bad self.

I gotta say, when I think of bands that Crackbomb would be opening for, I don’t really picture the Throwing Muses… more like Minor Threat or Big Black or something, maybe Morphine on the quiet side… so when did you see Throwing Muses? I don’t think they ever came to Dallas in the early ’90’s… Boston, probably, but I never really went there for shows when I was living up east…
